Taxi Booking Platform
Overview
Led the end-to-end development of a full-featured taxi booking app for iOS and Android using React Native and TypeScript, covering the complete passenger experience from booking to payment. Delivered to 50+ users on the Play Store from a clean-sheet start.
The Challenge
The client needed a production-ready taxi booking platform built from scratch — real-time driver tracking, secure multi-gateway payment integration, and biometric authentication — all within a single React Native codebase targeting both iOS and Android simultaneously.
The Solution
Built a modular React Native app with 50+ domain-specific custom hooks and a clean context-based state architecture separating auth, ride, and user-activity state. Integrated Swish Pay and Elavon card payments with PCI-compliant handling, real-time GPS via Socket.io, and biometric auth (Face ID/Touch ID) via Expo modules. Full Firebase backend integration for auth and push notifications.
Outcome
Shipped to 50+ downloads on the Play Store. Sub-second driver location updates via Socket.io. TypeScript strict mode throughout with zero runtime type errors. A reusable component library reduced feature development time on subsequent sprints significantly.
